According to police sources, Arumugam, 38, a resident of Watrap near Srivilliputhur taluk in Virudhunagar district was found dead at his house in a suspicious manner on May 5. Based on a complaint given by Arumugam’s mother Lakshmi, the Watrap police registered a case under Section Cr.PC 174.
During investigation, police found out that Arumugam, an alcoholic used to quarrel with his wife Pandeeswari, 34, frequently. On May 5, Arumugam who was in an inebriated condition picked up a quarrel once again. Angered by this, Pandeeswari allegedly strangled Arumugam to death using a rope. The Watrap police altered the section of the case to IPC 302 (punishment for murder), arrested Pandeeswari and are conducting further investigation.
In another incident, a woman poured boiling oil on her husband after he came home in an inebriated condition.
Adimoolam, 60, a resident of Reserveline at Sivakasi taluk in Virudhunagar district is working as an employee in a cracker unit and used to spend his salary on alcohol. Due to this, there was a quarrel between Adimoolam and his wife Lalitha,58. On Thursday night, when Adimoolam came home after consuming alcohol, there was a quarrel between the couple.
Angered by this, Lalitha poured heated oil on Adimoolam on Friday morning. Adimoolam who sustained severe injuries in this incident was admitted to the Sivakasi government hospital for treatment. Based on Adimoolam’s complaint, the Sivakasi Town police registered a case against Lalitha and are conducting investigations.Download The Times of India
