Police: 12 Year Old Shot In Yonkers

The 12-year-old boy who shot himself in the head accidentally with an illegal gun in a Yonkers apartment has died, according to Yonkers police.

Yonkers police say Nyran Plummer died overnight. They say they initially found Plummer bleeding from his head on the bedroom floor.

Detectives say Plummer was home alone with a 1-year-old neighbor when the shooting happened late Saturday night on Nepperhan Avenue. Police say the neighbor was in a separate room.

Police say the gun went off twice. One bullet struck a window, and the other struck the boy in the side of the head.

Police say first responders found an illegal .25-caliber semi-automatic pistol at the scene. Investigators are still working to determine how the weapon ended up in the boy's possession.

No arrests have been made.
