BROOK PARK, Ohio --
Public indecency-disorderly conduct, Glenway Drive: A Glenway Drive man, 66, was arrested at about 2 p.m. April 16 after he -- while nude and holding a knife -- approached a woman and a 3-year-old girl in a car.
The car was parked in a lot. The woman’s mother, who witnessed the incident from inside her home after her daughter called on her cell phone for help, contacted police. When police arrived, the man was no longer outside.
Police knocked on the back door of his residence. The man, wearing a jersey but no pants or underwear, answered the door.
The man said he was trying to protect the woman’s mother, who was not inside the car during the incident. He didn’t address the fact that he wasn’t wearing pants at the time.
He asked police for permission to put on a pair of pants, then did so. He told police he had consumed alcohol the previous night, adding that police could arrest him.
The woman, her mother and grandmother told police that the man had ordered the woman out of the car when he approached with the knife.
Drunkenness, Lockhaven Drive: A Parma man, 58, was arrested at about 1 a.m. April 20 after police found him drunk and unable to care for himself on Lockhaven Drive.
A Lockhaven resident called police after noticing a suspicious vehicle parked on the wrong side of the street. When police arrived, the vehicle’s engine was running, and a rear window and sunroof were open, but the vehicle was unoccupied.
Then police saw the man walking in the road. He smelled like alcohol. When police asked for his address, the man said he lived on a street named Parma. At first he denied drinking, then admitted consuming “a couple” of drinks. He didn’t know how he or his car arrived on Lockhaven.
Assault, Richard Drive: A male suspect assaulted another man on Richard. It wasn’t clear when the assault took place. Police didn’t respond to further questions about the incident.
Motor vehicle theft, Fayette Boulevard: An unlocked 2010 Chevrolet Malibu was reported stolen at about 6:15 p.m. April 21 from a driveway.
Operating a vehicle under the influence, Smith Road: A Cleveland man, 59, was arrested at about 9 p.m. April 20 after police caught him driving drunk from Snow Road into Brookgate Shopping Center on Smith.
Police recognized the man and his pickup truck from a previous incident that evening. The man and his wife had argued, and he had been drinking at the time. Police had advised the man not to drive for the rest of the night.
Because police knew the man had been drinking earlier, they followed his truck into the Brookgate lot. He failed field sobriety tests.
Littering, Brookpark Road: The owner of America’s Best Value Inn, 14043 Brookpark, called police at about 10:15 p.m. April 16 and said someone other than a hotel employee had placed garbage in the hotel’s Dumpster.
The owner had seen a female suspect place three or four bags of trash in the Dumpster. He took a photo of the suspect’s vehicle and a hotel worker wrote down the license plate number and vehicle description.
Police saw the vehicle parked outside an animal hospital on Keystone Parkway. The suspect admitted placing the garbage bags in the hotel Dumpster. She apologized. A prosecutor is reviewing the incident for possible charges.
