Lake County Man Gets 7 Years For Beating Up Customs Officer At Orlando International Airport

A Lake County man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for assaulting a customs officer at Orlando International Airport last summer.

John Craig Myrick, 67, got into an "altercation" with the officer August 11 after arriving from Bogota, Colombia, prosecutors said.

Myrick, who during the screening process had been ordered to wait in a baggage control area, resisted when an officer grabbed his arm to try to control him, and Myrick fell on top of the agent.

Myrick then punched the officer in the head several times. The officer suffered a broken ankle.
