Fire Breaks Out At Wood Ridge Apartments

TOLEDO (WTOL) - An apartment fire broke out in Springfield Township on Wednesday night.

This happened at Wood Ridge Apartments at 8:41 p.m.

The complex is at the intersection of Dorr and McCord, just by the Lake of the Woods apartment complex that caught fire last month.

Officials say 15 to 20 people were displaced and eight units were damaged due to the fire.

There were several fire departments on the scene to fight the fire. Crews say there were no injuries and they believe they were able to get all people and pets out safely.

ā€œIā€™m very grateful that they got them out and they heard them up there. It broke my heart how scared they probably were up there. I was crying on my way here,ā€ said apartment resident Kylie Gruszecki about her pets.

Firefighters say the worst damage is in the attic of the building.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but multiple residents are blaming a lightning strike.
