Boy, 11, Killed In Hit And Run In Manchester As Man, 31, Is Arrested

A Las Vegas man was arrested Friday in connection with a hit-and-run in the northwestern Las Vegas Valley that left a 65-year-old pedestrian dead.

Brian W. Alton, 26, faces one count of failure to stop at the scene of a crash. He was being held Friday without bail at the Clark County Detention Center, jail records show.

Shortly before 5 a.m., a man was crossing North El Capitan Way at Horse Drive inside a marked crosswalk when Alton struck him with a 2009 Ford F150, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. The man, who police said was a Las Vegas resident, died at the scene.

Police said Alton drove off but was found shortly thereafter in a nearby neighborhood. Investigators suspect Alton was impaired, Metro said.

The victim will be identified by the Clark County coroner’s office after his family has been notified. His death was the 41st traffic fatality investigated this year by Metro.
