Beminio joined the Belmond Police Department in February 1997, and was appointed police chief in December 2006.

Mayor Al Mattison said he hopes to appoint someone from within the police department as the new chief — a move he says the City Council seems to support.

Mattison says he is currently going through the interview process with three people and hopes to announce an appointment soon.
