A confrontation at a Gary restaurant in 2017 turned deadly in a matter of minutes when Marcus McCain pointed a gun at Marcel Harris’ temple and pulled the trigger.
“You took him away. For what?” Shanita Patton, Harris’ sister, asked as she looked at McCain at his sentencing Thursday in Lake Superior Court.
Harris’ family sat in the jury box as McCain’s family sat in the gallery to watch McCain, 30, of Neenah, Wis., be sentenced to 45 years in prison.
A jury found McCain guilty in December of voluntary manslaughter in the Aug. 5, 2017, shooting of Harris at a strip mall in the 5400 block of West 25th Avenue. McCain had initially been charged with murder.
